Log leaders Vipers SC have restored their seven-point advantage over KCCA FC after they overcame Mbarara City 2-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

Their lead had been cut to only four points early on in the day after KCCA defeated UPDF in Bombo, but Najib Yiga and Milton Karisa were on target to help their side restore their lead.

In a half short of goalscoring chances, Vipers broke the deadlock just before the break through Najib Yiga’s stunning flying header that beat Mohammed Ssenkeba and send the venom into celebrations.

Few seconds afterwards and with arguably the last kick of the opening half, Vipers had a chance to extend their lead but CAR forward Ceasar Manzoki agonizingly missed the target after being set through by Milton Karisa.

Mbarara’s best chance in the first half fell to David Ojok who rattled the crossbar midway the opening half.

Milton Karisa doubled Vipers advantage in the 70th minutes with a well-taken strike after the Mbarara City back line failed to deal with a long ball into their area.

In the later exchanges of the game, Vipers tried to extend their lead but that wasn’t possible as the game ended 2-0.

With the victory, Vipers SC restore their seven point lead atop of StarTimes Uganda Premier League log as they now sit on 52 points in 22 games.

For Mbarara, they extend their winless run to 14 games and sit second bottom with 19 points in 24 games.
