SC Villa’s winless run in the StarTimes Uganda Premier league has continued after they were held to a 1-all draw by Police FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
Substitute Herman Wasswa strike for Police cancelled out Nicholas Kabonge strike to extend the Joggos winless run in the league to nine games.
Villa were dominant in the first half but failed to convert the few chances they got into goals as Kabonge, Geoffrey Wasswa and Mohammed Ssenoga all failed to the break the deadlock before the break with Police goalkeeper Tom Ikara making a few decent saves from those attempts.
With the introduction of Herman Wasswa and Duncan Sseninde at the start of the second half, Abdallah Mubiru’s side started dominating proceedings but it was Villa that broke the deadlock through Kabonge.
Kabonge got at the end of Sadam Masereka cross to fire the Joggos ahead in the 57th minutes.
The Joggos lead never lasted so long as Wasswa levelled matters just moments later with a strike from his own rebound past Ssenkooto for his second goal of the season.
After that goal, The Cops looked more threatening on several occasions as Sseninde and Brian Mululi Mayanja both missed a couple of brilliant chances to put their side ahead.
Sseninde had his effort deflected out for a cornerkick in the 77th minute before Mululi rattled the crossbar late on in the game.
Police had to finish the game a man less after Tom Ikara was sent off almost at the death of the game for handling the ball outside his area.
SC Villa drop to 9th on the Uganda Premier League table with 33 points garnered in 25 games while Police stays sixth with 39 points.
In their next fixtures, Police FC will make a trip to Kakyeka Stadium to play Mbarara City while SC Villa host Kyetume FC at Bombo Military Barracks Stadium on Saturday.
