Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club’s title hopes this season has suffered a massive blow after they lost 2-0 to BUL FC at Kyabazinga Stadium, Jinja on Monday.

Richard Wandyaka- a former Tax Collector netted both goals for the Jinja-based side on a hot evening.

In a tightly contested opening half, the home side, BUL went into the break leading by a goal to nil. Richard Wandyaka got BUL’s goal in 33rd minute after running onto a long ball from Hillary Onek to beat off Nathian Aliozi, the Tax Collectors custodian.

Before that goal, both side had chance to break the deadlock but couldn’t find the back of the net due to the brilliance of the two goalkeepers.

Alionzi saved Jerome Kirya’s volley before Cromwell Rwothomio was twice denied by Emmanuel Kiryowa. URA’s Benjamin Nyakoojo also headed high after Ivan Sserubiri freekick.

With his side trailing, URA FC head coach Sam Timbe made a double introduction to bring on Hassan Kalega and Vianne Sekajungo for Joachim Ojera and Brian Nkuubi respectively with hope that the pair could spark a comeback.

But instead, it was BUL who extended their lead just nine minutes into the second half with once again Wandyaka finding the back of the net after a nice flick by Karim Ndugwa.

With 66 minutes played, URA got arguably their first realistic chance to get on the scoresheet but Hassan Kalega’s shot, that was just heading into the back of the net was deflected out for a corner kick.

Before the end of the game, BUL had several chance to further extend their lead but were denied by the Tax Collectors back line and goalkeeper.

At the end of 90, the game ended 2-0 in favour of the home side, who now move two points below URA.

This result means URA remain six points below leaders Vipers SC ( who have played three games less)

For BUL, the victory takes them to 41 points in 24 games and remain fourth.
