Skipper Tonny Mawejje has been appointed player coach at Police FC.

This is following the departure of coach Abdallah Mubiru who left the club on Wednesday evening.

Mubiru’s departure comes a day after Police’s 3-0 loss to Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday.

According to the press statement released by the club, John Luyinda Ayala has been appointed as the new acting head coach and will be assisted by Tonny Mawejje as a player coach.

Police sit just above the relegation zone, with 24 points in 25 games ( level on points with Soltilo Bright Stars who occupy the last drop place).

Mawejje started playing professional soccer in 2004 and has gone on to feature for a couple of local and foreign clubs.

Ayala has been Mubiru’s assistant for the last couple of years. He also worked at Vipers and KCCA.

Ayalla and Mawejje first game in charge will be against URA FC on Saturday afternoon.
