Soltilo Bright Stars were dealt a crushing blow in their hopes of avoiding the drop after they failed to beat Busoga United at Kavumba.

The Stars took the lead midway the opening half when Joseph Janjali quickly fired past Andrew Ssekandi, the Busoga United goalkeeper after receiving a cross from Jamil Kasinde.

But before the break, Anwar Ntege pulled Busoga level as he rose highest to beat Simon Tamale who made a wrong decision to rush off his line.

The second half saw Bright Stars dominating proceedings but were denied by goalkeeper Ssekandi on multiple occasions.

Ssekandi denied Nelson Senkatuka twice and also made an incredible save to deny substitute Yasin Mugume.

The hosts, Bright Stats remain third bottom on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log with 21 points in 23 games. Five points above them sits Busoga United who are 10th on the log.
