StarTimes UPL: SC Villa’s winless run continues, BUL pick up vital late point in Arua

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League Match day 18 continued on Wednesday evening with two games.

SC Villa travelled to Fort Portal to take on Tooro United while Arua Hill hosted BUL FC in Arua.

Starting off in Fort, SC Villa extended their winless run to six games after they drew 1-all with Tooro United.

The Jogoos took an early lead as defender Bernard Agele headed in a Davis Ssekaja corner three minutes in.

Despite conceding early, Tooro were the better side of the opening half but Muhammad Nsereko and Ronald Mugwali missed glorious chances.

After several attacks, the Jogoos surrendered to Tooro’s pressure as Fred Agandu handled the ball in the area for Nsereko to step up and convert to level matters.

SC Villa had a chance to regain the lead but Benson Muhindo failed to head in Agele’s cross to ensure the game ended with tied scores.

With a point, SC Villa who are winless in six games move to 18 points who Tooro remain bottom with nine points.

To the game at the Barifa Stadium in Arua, substitute Simon Peter Oketch netted late on as BUL drew 2-all with Arua Hill.

Oketch’s strike came in the 87th minute to help the Eastern Giants pick up a point away from home.

Karim Ndugwa had broken the deadlock for BUL but Samuel Ssekamate and Gaddafi Wahab netted to put Arua Hill ahead before the break.

The result ensures BUL remain fourth with 30 points in 18 games while Arua Hill also remain sixth with 29 points.

The SUPL will continue on Friday with two fixtures, UPDF will host Vipers SC while Busoga United will play hosts to Express.
