It will be a relegation zone affair on Friday evening as Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) FC hosts fellow strugglers, Kitara FC, in the StarTimes Uganda Premier game at the King George IV Memorial Stadium, Tororo.
The two sides have not won a single game in the StarTimes UPL since being promoted to Uganda’s top-flight league, with the hosts, MYDA sitting second bottom with just two points in 11 games, while Kitara are just having a point they picked up against Kyetume FC at the bottom.
Coming into this game, MYDA squandered a two-goal lead to draw with Wakiso Giants 2-2 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakiso, while Kitara endured their tenth consecutive loss in the league after losing 1-0 to Express FC at the Kavumba Recreation Center, Wakiso on Tuesday.
MYDA FC head coach Abdul-Samadu Musafiri will rely on sensational January new recruits Ahmed Saleh for inspiration, while Kitara will rely on Vicent Kasonki for any magic in Tororo.
Speaking in a pre-match presser, MYDA Assistant head coach Madanda Erisa believes his side will get maximum points over Kitara.
“According to the player morale in training and our result against Wakiso Giants, we expect to collect maximum points against Kitara FC although we need to work hard for the win.”
This will be the first meeting between the two sides as they have never faced off in any competitive match in their history.
Team News
MYDA head coach has an almost fit squad to chose from as there are no major injury concerns.
Kitara FC is still struggling with the fitness of Kaisaja David, Emmanuel Opoi, Musa Doka, Sudhir Kayemba and Philip Ssempira who all missed their side’s loss to Express with injuries.
Kitara can replace MYDA in the 15th position in case of maximum points while the home side will retain the same position in case of a positive result.
