Action of match day 23 continues on Wednesday 30th March 2022 with three games.
Three relegation threatened sides will be action, Busoga United hosts bottom placed Tooro United while SC Villa, who also are not safe will travel to Wakiso Giants. The other game will see URA host Tricky Arua Hill in Ndejje.
Here is our rundown of Wednesday’s action in the Uganda Premier League.
Wakiso Giants Vs SC Villa – Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium
SC Villa will be seeking to return to winning ways as they travel to Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso to take on Wakiso Giants.
The Jogoos sit just two points above the relegation zone and could drop there at the end of the game week if they don’t pick up a positive result against the Purple Sharks.
They have struggled for victories this season, with their last game ending in a 3-1 loss to URA FC on Sunday. They have now lost nine of their 22 games this season and this doesn’t look great for Greek head coach Petros Koukouras who is under pressure to deliver.
Fans are also not convinced with their head coach’s management skills of the game after he deployed Shafik Bakaki, who is known as a center back in a forward role with a number of forwards left on the bench.
On the other hand, Wakiso Giants lie 7th on the log with 33 points after 22 games, but will be desperate to return to winning ways having lost their last league outing to Onduparaka 2-1 at home.
What a win could mean for either side
A win for Wakiso Giants will help them strengthen their seventh league position on the log. They would get to 36 points and be level on points with Express FC, who defeated Police FC on Tuesday.
For Villa, a victory would potentially lift them to 9th position on the log, surpassing Police FC in the process.
Last Result between the two side.
Wakiso Giants took all the three points when the two sides met early this season. They defeated the Jogoos 3-1 in Jinja.
Last season, Salim Abdallah scored twice to rescue a point for Villa after Wakiso Giants had taken the lead through Kipson Atuheire and Joseph Nsubuga own goal. The second leg tie, just like in 2019/20 season was not played due to Covid19.
The first ever meeting between the two sides in the league saw Villa beat Wakiso under floodlights on the Independence day of 2019 thanks to goals from Amir Kakomo and David Owori.
Team News.
The Jogoos continue to be without Salim Abdallah, Ronald Ssekiganda, Isma Mugulusi and Charles Bbaale.
For the home side, all the players are fit and available for selection.
Probable Lineups.
Wakiso Giants: Derrick Emukule (GK), Grant Matsiko, Alex Komakech, Fahad Kawooya, Edward Satulo, Lawrence Bukenya, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Titus Ssematimba, Moses Aliro, Samuel Ssenyonjo, Tom Masiko.

Busoga United Vs Tooro United – Kakindu Stadium
A battle of the two relegation threatened sides will see Busoga United host Tooro United at Kakindu Stadium in Bugembe.
Busoga United sits just above the red zone with 22points in their 22 games this season. They sit just two point above Bright Stars who occupy the last relegation place.
For Tooro United, they are almost destined for relegation as they sit bottom of the 16-team log with just 10 points. They will need a miracle to survive the drop as they are also 12 points below the survival line.
Busoga United are winless in their last league outings, meaning two draws and one loss since their victory against SC Villa last month.
Tooro United meanwhile look a better side in the second round but still they have struggled for victories. They got a victory over leaders Vipers SC early this month, but that was overturned in the boardroom after they used an ineligible player, who was supposed to be banned for that game hence losing the three points.
But if Tooro needs a miracle, it will mostly likely be Muhammad Ssenoga to provide it because of the form he has been at in the last few game.
Last Result
Busoga United FC drew at home to Bul FC in the Jinja Derby in their previous game just like Tooro United who also traveled back home with a point after their goalless draw against Arua Hill at Barifa stadium.
In the first Leg, Busoga United won this fixture 3-1 away from home in Fort Portal at Buhinga Stadium.
What Could This Mean.
A win for Busoga will take them to 25 points, five above the relegation zone into 9th in place of Police FC who lost to the Red Eagles on Tuesday.
For Tooro United a win will just help them narrow the points tally between them and 15th placed Mbarara City to six in order to retain their hope for survival.
Team News.
Busoga United welcome back Akol Godfrey, Herbert Onyango, Kabaale Thomas and Dickson Niwamanya who were not allowed to face their parent club ( BUL FC) in their previous fixture.
Tooro United will be without Ronald Kayondo, who is out serving his suspension.
Probable Lineups.
