Steven Mukwala netted a brace for URA FC as they defeated Soltilo Bright Stars 3-0 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League played on Tuesday evening.
All two of Mukwala goals came after the talisman capitalized on two defensive errors by Simon Tamale and Soltilo Bright Stars.
Vianne Ssekajungo netted the other for the Tax Collectors in a game played at Kavumba Recreation Center.
The Tax Collectors had the first attempt at goal early on in the game but Ssekajugo head wide a brilliant Said Kyeyune’s freekick.
Vianne had another chance in the 13th minute but his weak shot was easily saved Simon Tamale, the Bright Stars goalkeeper.
But Vianne was third lucky in the 26th minute when he curled the ball past Tamale and into the back of net after beating off Isa Walugembe.
But before that, midfielder Kyeyune all missed a Brilliant chance from a freekick when he failed to find the target after Mukwala was fouled outside the box.
Bright Stars’ best attempts at goal fell to Nelson Ssekantuka who wasted both of them. He rose high to head out Methodius Jjungu’s cornerkick in the 10th minute before he failed to connect with a well driven Andrew Kaggwa’s cross just before the break.
Immediately after the break, Bright Stars had a chance to level matters but Allan Katwe exhibited traits of a poor finisher when he missed from close range with goalie Nathian Alionzi well beaten.
But it was URA that got the game’s next goal in the 56th minute after poor goalkeeping from Tamale gifted Mukwala a chance to put the ball into an empty net, and the forward did no mistake to extend his side’s lead. Tamale failed to handle an easy ball after a long clearance by URA FC.
Before that though, Tamale did brilliant to parry away Vianne’s volley that was heading into the back of the net.
Kaka Omonyi, who came on for Jjunju tested Nathan Alionzi minutes after coming on but the URA goalie acrobatically saved Kaka’s effort.
With 67 minutes played, the game witnessed its first caution as referee Shamirah Nabbada issued out a yellow card to Ashraf Madela for a foul on Nelson Ssekatunka.
At the almost the death of the game, Mukwala once again capitalized on defensive error to net his second goal of the game to extend his side lead to 3-0. Mukwala was first to meet Allan Katwe’s back pass to round off a helpless Tamale and finish off into an empty net.
The victory takes URA to 25 points in 14 games and now occupy fifth position on the log.
For Bright Stars, they drop to second bottom with 11 points in 15 games.
