Forwards Samuel Nsubuga and Reagan Mpande scored the two important goals for Ndejje University as they edged past Calvary FC in a StarTimes FUFA Big League game played on Tuesday.

Nsubuga netted in the opening half while Mpande was on target late on in the closing half to help Ndejje claim their first victory of the season.

In the opening half that was dominated by mainly Ndejje, Nsubuga broke the deadlock in the 37th minute after he received the ball from Nicholas Lusige to excellently strike into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Peter Ouma had a chance to double Ndejje’s lead before halftime but Calvary custodian Saleh Maganda made a brilliant save to parry away the midfielder’s header.

After making three change at the start of the second half, Calvary started dominating proceedings and nearly levelled matters in the 71st minute through substitute Norman Brown but his effort was saved by Jeans Wokorach.

With seven minutes left on the clock, Ndejje doubled their lead against the run of play, Jimmy Nsaale Wasswa stealing a ball from defender Jackson Wabuleta to set up Mpande who easily tap home the second of the game.

Calvary tried to pull a goal back in the later exchanges of the game but the Ndejje defense made that impossible.

With the hard-earned victory, Ndejje have garnered their first points this season having lost their opening game to MYDA 3-2 in Tororo.

While Calvary are now winless in their first two games. They drew their first game with Maroons goalless in Luzira.
