Forwards Ceasar Manzoki and Milton Karisa were on target on Saturday evening as Vipers rallied from a goal down to defeat KCCA 2-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
KCCA broke the game’s deadlock early on in the game through Denis Iguma but Manzoki levelled matters before the break before Karisa won it for the Venoms in the second half.
Coming into the game, the Venoms were nine points above of KCCA, and by the end of the day, the lead was stretched to 12 points.
KCCA had a bright start to the game as they scored from arguably their first attempt at goal when Denis Iguma rose high to head in a well driven Ashraf Mugume’s free kick in the 6th minute.
Few minute later, Vipers almost responded with a goal of their own, but Benjamin Ochan made a brilliant save to deny Bobosi Byaruhanga who unleashed in a brilliant free kick.
With 20 minutes played, KCCA nearly doubled their lead through Brian Aheebwa’s bicycle kick but it went agonizingly wide.
The Venoms levelled matters in the 27th minute as Caesar Manzoki run away from his marker Peter Magambo to head in a well swung in Yunus Sentamu cross from the left.
The Kasasiro Boys had a brilliant chance to restore their lead before the break, but Sadat Anaku failed to get his attempt past Denis Kiggundu after being set through one on one with the Vipers custodian.
KCCA had the first chance after restart but Mugume curried his effort just wide.
Moments later, Vipers got their chance but Hillary Mukundane headed Byaruhanga’s free kick close to Ochan.
After several attacks on the KCCA backline, Vipers got their second of the game through Milton Karisa, who run onto Manzoki’s back headed flick to put the ball past Ochan to grant the Venoms an advantage
After that goal, the game became so scrappy as Vipers resorted to a cautious approach to the game- limiting the Kasasiro Boys to few chances.
Vipers managed to hold on and win the game 2-1.
