Vipers SC will be hoping for maximum points when they host Arua Hill SC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende on Saturday.
The Venoms currently sit top of the log with 36 points garnered in 16 games and will hope to extend that when they battle the Leopards.
Coach Roberto Oliveira is expected to name the same lineup that easily beat BUL FC and SC Villa.
Arua Hill is one of the two teams that defeated Vipers in the first leg and the venoms would hope for a better revenge this time round in order to maintain their lead over the chasing KCCA FC
“Obviously it was a really tough one to swallow. The way it happened, it was really cruel.” Vipers assistant Marcelo Cardoso said in the pre-match presser before adding;
“After everything we did in the start to the game in Arua, to lose the way we did was unacceptable. But we moved on. We have some feelings towards that team and we want to put it right tomorrow.” explained the Portuguese tactician.
The Venoms were near perfect against Arua Hill in the first leg however much they did not win but now will be aware that Arua Hill poses a much stronger challenge given that they are playing with huge confidence and quality in their side.
The Venoms have to bank on their attack line of Caesar Manzoki and Yunus Sentamu but they must be well fed by Bright Anukani, Milton Karissa and Najib Yiga, who scored a brace in the previous game.
The hosts come into the game on the back of a strong 3-1 away win over BUL FC and will be hoping to maintain their strong start to the second round.
For the visitors, they lay 5th on the log with 28 points just below URA FC who are ahead of Leopards due to a stronger goal difference.
Arua’s Coach Olima Ahmad Borini, in his press conference ahead of the game came out and said his charges are ready for the task.
“It’s a big one, Vipers is one of the biggest clubs in the country, I think it’s going to be a tough game. In the week we have been working hard, the players have worked so hard I think they are ready for the task.”
Alfred Leku, the Arua based side’s top scorer and scorer of the lone goal in this games’ first leg this season and Rashid Toha will be facing their former paymasters again and still have a point to prove when the game gets underway at 4pm(EAT).
Team news
The Venoms will be without second goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu who suffered a knee injury on Thursday in training and won’t be involved in this game so youngster Jack Komakech will be recalled into the squad to deputize Fabien Mutombora.
