KCCA FC has returned to winning ways in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after they defeated UPDF 3-0 in a game played at Bombo Military Playground on Tuesday.
Sadat Anaku, Brian Aheebwa were on target to help KCCA secure their first victory in four games. The other KCCA goal was an own goal from Okello Donato.
In an interesting opening half, the away team, KCCA went into the break leading by a goal to nil after Sadat Anaku headed the KCCA boys in the lead in the 16th minute before Benjamin Ochan saved Ivan Ahimbisibwe spotkick just before the break.
UPDF had the first attempt at goal as early as the first minute, but KCCA custodian Ochan went down to parry away Ambrose Kigozi’s effort.
With 16 minutes played, Anaku broke the deadlock for KCCA with a nice header from close range that resulted from a Denis
Iguma’s header.
After that goal, Anaku had several chances to get more on the score sheet but couldn’t get past Wasswa Yusuf.
Just before the break though, UPDF were gifted a chance to level matters from the spot but Ochan went to the right side and parried away Ahimbisibwe’s kick.
The second half seemed so cagey until in the 64th minute when Okello Donato netted into his own goal. The own goal resulted from a nice Brian Majwega lay back after some nice work by Anaku.
Anaku had a chance to triple the Kasasiro Boy’s lead in the 75th minute but wasted it as he failed to make a crucial decision with Majwega free at the back post.
It was three for KCCA in the 80th minute as Aheebwa guided the ball into an empty net after Anaku’s shot was earlier saved by Wasswa.
With the emphatic victory, KCCA reclaim their second spot on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log and are now four points below Vipers SC, who play Mbarara later on today.
For UPDF, they remain on 27 points with six games left to play this season.
