KCCA FC fought from a goal down to defeat Busoga United 2-1 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played on Saturday at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Shaka Ssozi had Busoga United ahead midway the opening half, but the score was levelled just before the break through Douglas Bithum’s own goal. Erisa Ssekisambu won it for KCCA just after the hour mark.

KCCA started off the game the brightest and could have gone ahead early on in the game but Busoga goalkeeper Michael Nantamu was brilliant to deny them on numerous occasions.

Despite KCCA holding much of the possession, it was Busoga who broke the game’s deadlock in the 36th minute – Ssozi putting his freekick past Derrick Ochan, the KCCA goalkeeper.

KCCA levelled matters just the break though, through Bithum own goal after poor communication with his goalkeeper Natamu.

The game went into the break with the scores tied at 1-all.

With KCCA trying to chance for a winner, their head coach Morley Byekwaso made a double change to bring on experienced Ssekisambu and Brian Majwega for the last 30 minutes.

That double introduction paid off instantly as Ssekisambu made a nice run to tap in KCCA’s second from close range.

Ssekisambu’s goal was the last of the game as KCCA held on to just secure a 2-1 victory.

With the point, KCCA move to 56 points and cement their second position on the log.

For Busoga, they drop to 13th on the log with 29 points garnered in 28 games. They are now a point above of relegation.

The loss also means Busoga United has secured good results in their last two games against URA FC and Gaddafi respectively.
