Eric Kambale’s brilliant form continued on Friday evening as he helped his side, Express FC, to strengthen their grip atop of the StarTimes Uganda Premier league log after they defeated Kitara FC 4-0 at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku.

Kambale was involved in all four of Express goals, scoring two and helping his teammates find the back of the net twice also to relegate Kitara FC.

Kitara surprisingly fashioned the first realistic goalscoring chance of the game after Kiggundu’s defensive mistake when his back pass failed to reach Mathias Muwanga but Peter Lomoro missed from close range in front of an empty net. He skied his effort over the bar.

Few seconds after that miss, Kitara was punished by Eric Kambale who rose high to head in the first goal of the game following a brilliant cross by Arthur Kiggundu.

The Red Eagles would have doubled their lead in the 18th minute, but Martin Kizza agonizingly shot wide after brilliant work by Kambale on the right who dribbled past his marker to set up the experienced winger.

Two minutes later, Geoffrey Lwesibawa was denied by Ivan Akera after he tried an audacious chip from inside the box but Kitara goalkeeper made a wonderful save to stop the Red Eagles’ winger.

However, Akera couldn’t stop Kiggundu’s effort just before the half-hour mark when the defender made a charging run on the left flank after an excellent interplay with Kambale, to calmly place it in-between the goalkeeper’s legs for his side’s second.

The game went into the break with the Red Eagles holding a comfortable 2-0 lead over the visitors.

From a moment of brilliance, Kambale got his second of the game and his club’s third after he received the ball from Lwesibawa, turned his marker inside-out before placing the ball past Akera for his 16th goal of the season.

Frank Kalanda, who came on for Martin Kizza in the 74th minute got the fourth of the game three minutes afterwards after an initial Kambale shot was parried into Kalanda’s path by Akera.

The huge result means Express strengthen their grip atop the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log and they have now garnered 58 points in 26 games.

For Kitara, they have officially been relegated from the StarTimes Uganda Premier league as they sit bottom with 13 points, 13 points below the survival line with four games to go.
