James Odoch endured a difficult start to life as Express boss after his side lost 1-0 to Busoga United at the Kakindu Stadium, Jinja.

Paul Ssekulima netted all important goal to grant Busoga United the deserved victory.

Playing infront their home crowd, the home side started the game on the front foot and were rewarded in the 21st minute with a goal as Paul Ssekulima exquisitely put the ball past Joel Mutakubwa to break the deadlock.

Before that goal, Busoga had chances but Ngalo Fredrick and Paul Onzima wasted them.

The Red Eagles best chance fell to Deus Bukenya but the midfielder headed a brilliant Sadiq Ssekyembe cornerkick just wide.

With Express struggling to create enough goalscoring chances, the game went into the break with the Red Eagles trailing by a 1-0.

At the start of the second half, Joseph Akwadwaho was introduced on by Odoch with hope that the forward could help the Red Eagles level matters and consequently win the game.

With his introduction, Express started to dominate some of the proceedings, but still lacked that cutting edge upfront in order to find an equaliser.

Busoga were so dangerous on the counter attacks and nearly got their second in the 61st minute but Ssekulima didn’t put too much energy into his header after being set up substitute Ssaka Ssozi.

All the Red Eagle’s attack in the closing half were harmless as Busoga United goalkeeper Andrew Ssekandi had close to nothing to do in-between the sticks.

This victory takes Busoga United out of the relegation zone as they now sit 13th on the log with 17 points. Mbarara City, who play Gaddafi on Sunday drop to the relegation zone.

For Express, they remain fifth on the log with 29 points.
