BUL FC moved above Express FC on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after securing a 2-0 victory over Wakiso Giants FC at the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe.
Richard Wandyaka and Simon Peter Oketch were on target for BUL as they exacted revenge on Wakiso Giants and secured maximum points at home.
The Purple Sharks beat the Jinja based side 4-3 in the first leg at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakiso.
So unusual is Wakiso Giants being defensive as it was , hence attracting pressure from the hosts which resulted into the game’s first goal, which was scored by Wandyaka in the 16th minute after long possession spells by the home side.
After the goal though, Wakiso Giants grew into the game and started creating chance after chance hence turning the game into their favor and got BUL’s key players like Douglas Muganga booked.
The Purple Sharks got a bit more aggressive and physical midway the opening half to injure striker Karim Ndugwa, who needed medical attention to get back on pitch.
Although the Purple Sharks dominated proceeding in the opening half, it was BUL that went into the break with a goal to their name.
After the restart, the game seemed dull which prompted Wakiso Giants head coach Alex Gitta to make a change in his forward line, taking off Ivan Bogere to bring on Sharif Kimbowa, who had scored in the previous game against Busoga United.
The leveler remained elusive however much the Purple Sharks were the ones exacting the pressure on the hosts but with no direct push on the goal.
With 12 minutes left on the clock of uneventful game, Bul FC made a change that could helped them up their game momentum. Alex Isabirye bought on Simon Peter Oketch for the tired Martin Aprem.
This came after the visitors had made a double substitution bringing on Sam Ssenyonjo and Lubwama for Tom Masiko and Grant Masiko respectively.
Oketch repaid Isabirye’s trust just before the end of the game with a beautiful goal to seal the win for BUL.
With the victory, BUL move to 4th on the log with 29 points in 17 games, level on points with 5th placed Express FC.
