Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers, NEC, Pakwach Young Stars arrive at Round of 32

Three-time champions Vipers Sports Club edged a resilient Tepa side thanks to Livingstone Mulondo’s brace at the Aloysius Core PTC ground in Ngora on a rainy Friday evening.

Mulondo was on target in either half, scoring in the 21st and 85th minute to edge the game despite Simon Peter Olupot scoring a consolation for Tepa.

The Venoms  have won this trophy in 2016, 2020 and 2023 season.

For NEC Football Club, they managed to secure 4-0 victory over UCU at the Mbale City Stadium.

Emmanuel Ajo, James Jarieko, Allan Mugalu and Dickson Niwamanya were on target for the Lugogo based side.

Ajo scored just 28th minutes into the game before Jarieko and Mugalu added two quick goals in the 44th and 45th minute.

This ended the opening half at 3-0 before second half substitute Niwamanya sealed the win three minutes to full time.

The 2024 Uganda Cup first runners will hope to restore their perfect run in the previous season to reach the finals.

In the other game Pakwach Young Stars beat Kigezi Home Boyz 3-0 at the St Mary’s Omach ground to book a place in the Round of 32.

After the postponement of SC Villa’s Saturday game against Seeta United, the competition will resume on Sunday when Red Devo host 10 time champions Express FC at Namasale Technical play ground.

Holders Kitara will also visit Young Simba at the Bombo Miltary Grounds as Garuga Stars welcome BUL FC on the same day.

All the winning teams progressed to the round of 32 stage in the 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The Champion of Uganda Cup will book a place at the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary Round to represent the country.
