Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers get Mbarara as semi-final draws are held

The semi-final draw for the 2022 Stanbic Uganda Cup has been held on Thursday morning at FUFA House in Mengo.

The draws was overseen by FUFA Professional League manager Shawn Mubiru and Competitions committee’s and FUFA Vice-president Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.

The semi-finals shall be played in two legs, on home and away basis.

The first legs will be played between 10th-12th May 2022 while the second leg will take place between 17th and 19th May.

Holders Vipers have been pitted against Mbarara City while last season’s runner-up BUL will take on Booma FC.

Vipers and BUL will be away in the first leg.

Vipers eliminated Wakiso Giants 3-1 in the quarterfinals while Mbarara eliminated Mbale Heroes after a 1-0 scoreline at Kakyeka Stadium.

BUL eliminated SC Villa 2-1 after extra time while Booma eliminated Maroons FC in the quarters.

At the same presser, the date for the final of the 2022 Stanbic Uganda Cup was confirmed to be played between 11th and 12th June in Kitara region.

Vipers are the defending champions, having beaten BUL 8-1 in the final played at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru last year.

Express and KCCA are the record champions of Uganda’s oldest cup with 10 each.

Stanbic Bank is the main sponsor of this annual tournament, joined by paints gurus; Kansai Plascon.
