Stanbic Uganda Cup: Villa battle Onduparaka for a place in quarterfinals

SC Villa will be seeking for to take the final Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter-final spot when they play Onduparaka FC at the AbaBet Greenlight Stadium in Arua on Sunday.

Earlier this week on Wednesday, the Jogoos won their first game in the last nine in League. A 2-1 win it was to Wakiso Giants FC where they finished the game without their head coach Petros Koukouras after he was shown matching orders before the hour mark of that game.

In the Stanbic Uganda Cup, they beat their bitter rivals Express FC in spotkicks to advance to the round of 16,a game where their youngster in Travis Mutyaba exhibited shear quality though the course of the action.

Heading into Sunday’s game, the Greek coach’s major concern is the ability of his boys to deliver fully since they have been on the road for longer hours than they have rested nor trained.

“For sure if we will not win this cup we will be the championsof Kilometers because we are the only team that has played all our games away and 2 of the 3 against top division sides, the draw hasn’t been fair to us but we have to fight against everything” Petros said.

He then added “For us the cup is also a possible target especially when we see how many clubs from the UPL are knocked out of the cup so far our position in the league will affect a lot our performance in cup because we can’t concentrate fully in the cup”

“For us its going to be a very important game apart from the importance of going to the next round in the Cup, it’s the a game that is going to boost our morale.” he concluded.

The Jogoos will all go out in a bid to continue winning in order to avoid a Stanbic Uganda Cup exit in this round of 16.

On the other hand, the hosts come a motivated having picked a late 1-0 win against Tooro United FC at home in Arua in their previous game in the round of 32.

Onduparaka have all eyes on keeping the winning momentum to earn their spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

SC Villa will be without Ronald Ssekiganda who has just be operated, Charles Bbaale, Salim Abdallah, Isma Mugulusi and Allan Nyanzi.

On the side of the hosts they have a fully fit squad apart from their player Rashid Okocha who was banned from any football action for negatively reacting to a linesman.
