R32 Uganda Cup Results

  • Total FC 1-0 Express FC
  • Simba FC 0-1 SC Villa
  • Rwenzori Lions FC 0(4)-0(3) Buhimba Saints FC

Yumbe-based side Total FC delivered a stunning upset by eliminating ten-time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners Express FC from the competition, thanks to a decisive goal from Adinan Khemis.

Khemis was the hero of the match, netting the only goal that sealed a historic 1-0 victory for Total FC, ensuring their place in the last 16.

His clinical finish proved too much for the Red Eagles, sending shockwaves through the competition.

Express FC entered the contest without four key players; captain Alex Emmanuel Wasswa, Richard Basangwa, Sam Ssenyonjo, and Derrick Ngoobi, leaving them vulnerable against a determined Total FC side.

With this defeat, the Red Eagles become the second Uganda Premier League team to exit the competition this season, following Mbale Heroes’ 3-2 defeat to Simba FC in the round of 64.

Meanwhile, nine-time competition winners SC Villa comfortably progressed to the last 16 after edging Buganda Regional League side Simba FC 1-0 at Namulonge.

Aslam Ssemakula struck in the second half to seal victory for the Jogoos, bringing an end to Simba FC’s cup journey.

SC Villa, who last lifted the trophy in 2015 after defeating KCCA FC in the final at Mandela National Stadium, remain hopeful of another title run.

In the day’s other fixture, Rwenzori Lions FC needed a penalty shootout to overcome Buhimba Saints FC, winning 4-3 after a goalless draw in normal time.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 action continues on Thursday, with CATDA hosting reigning champions Kitara FC, Kaaro Karungi FC taking on Busia Young Stars FC as Vipers welcome Mbarara City under the floodlights in Kitende.
