Midfielder Marvin Youngman netted the lone goal for Bright Stars as they eliminated KCCA from the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

In a game played at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday, Marvin got on the scoresheet in the 10th minute after receiving a cut-back from Ibrahim Kasinde to ferocious shot from outside the box past Benjamin Ochan, the KCCA goalkeeper.

KCCA tried to level matters throughout the game but that wasn’t possible as Bright Stars goalkeeper Derrick Were was brilliant on the day to deny Julius Poloto, Erisa Ssekisambu and Brian Majwega on multiple occasions while Hassan Jurua rattled the crossbar.

Marvin’s goal extends KCCA drought for 11th Uganda Cup title, having won their last in 2018.

Bright Stars advance to the last 16 of the competition and now joins Wakiso Giants, Tipsa, BUL, Police, Kataka, Onduparaka, UPDF, Maroons, Ndejje University and Mbale Heroes as the other sides who have progressed to the next round.
