Kataka FC, Onduparaka FC and Tipsa FC have progressed to the round of 16 of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.
This is after Kataka FC defeated Paidha Black Angels 2-0 at the Mbale Municipal Stadium in a game played on Wednesday evening.
Baba Joel Onziku and Swamad Okur both netted in the first half to ensure their side prevailed to the next round.
Muhammad Shaban was the hero for Onduparaka FC as he scored a late winner as the Caterpillars defeated Tooro United 2-1 at the Greenlight Stadium.
Shaban’s goal came with five minutes left on the game after Paidha’s Otingcwinyu Eric “Chicharito” had cancelled out Gabriel Matata’s early strike for Onduparaka.
In Koboko at the Nyarito Playgrounds, Regional side Tipsa FC eliminated Kitara FC after a 2-1 victory.
Mahad Omari and Michael Eruga were on target to help Tipsa progress to the next round. Kyomuhendo Charles got Kitara’s consolation.
Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 will resume on Friday with three fixtures. Police FC will host Gaddafi FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium before KCCA FC plays hosts to Soltilo Bright Stars at the same ground.
In Jinja, it will be a Jinja derby as Busoga United hosts BUL FC at the Kakindu Stadium.
While in Soroti, Ateker FC who eliminated Lugazi Municipal in the round of 64 will host Maroons FC.
