Uganda Cup results | Tuesday January 14th
- Pajule Lions 1-2 Gaddafi
- Iganga Young (4)0-0 (5) Bright Stars
Gaddafi Football Club progressed to the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 at Pajule P/S ground in Pader on Tuesday evening.
This came after edging Pajule Lions thanks to two first half goals from Tom Kakaire and Ronald Bithum.
The Entebbe side’s Captain Kakaire broke the deadlock just 17 minutes into the game to level matters for the visitors.
Eighteen minutes later, Ronald Bithum off a good Lubowa Micheal through ball put the Soilder boys ahead to make it 1-2 by half time.
With anticipation of an entertaining second half, the action didn’t disappoint but no goals were scored thus leaving the scoreline unchanged.
This will be a huge disappointment to the Michael Lukyamuzi coached side that stopped at the semifinal stage last season falling to the eventual Champions Kitara FC.
On the other side, Gaddafi will see this as a perfect season with a great run so far both in the Big League where they lay 2nd level on points with top side Blacks Power and Uganda Cup.
At Iganga Ssaza Ground where the game between Iganga Young FC and Bright Stars was played, no goals were sighted but visitors managed to secure a Round of 32 spot.
This was after they attained a 4-5 edge in the penalty shootout thanks to Shamulan Kamya’s Heroic saving two penalties of the three missed to give interim Head Coach Ian Mutenda a breather.
Uganda Cup action will resume on Wednesday when Mbarara FC host Wakiso Giants at Kakyeka stadium whereas URA FC visit Kalongo Tech Institute to face Kalongo United FC.
The other game will see Mayuge United FC welcome Lugazi FC to the Wembely Play Ground. All games are played at 3pm.
