Express FC and KCCA FC will be seeking a first-leg advantage when the two Uganda Cup record Champions face off on Wednesday evening at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku.
These two sides have won the Uganda Cup title a record ten times since the tournament was founded in 1971.
This will be the second meeting between these two sides in Wakulukuku this season after the first-round game in the StarTimes Uganda Premier league that ended in a 1-all stalemate.
The Red Eagles eliminated URA 2-1 on aggregate in the previous round while KCCA FC dumped Maroons out of the tournament in the last 16.
Express FC come into this contest in sublime form, having not lost any of their last nine games in all competitions, winning 8 and drawing the other. At home, they are still unbeaten this season, winning 11 of their 13 games thus far.
The Visitors come into this game on the back of a 3-1 victory over Busoga United in the league, their second victory in the last six games and will hope to use that as an inspiration to try and garner a resounding result in Wakulukuku.
The two sides last met in the Uganda Cup in the 2017 semi-finals where KCCA emerged victors over two legs with a 3-2 aggregate scoreline to progress to the finals where they faced Paidha Black Angels at the Greenlight Stadium, Arua.
In all competitions, Express and KCCA FC have faced each other 23 times with KCCA FC winning nine of them, Express four while the rest have ended in stalemates.

What the managers said ahead of the game
“The league break is here but we have the Uganda cup to play, we’ve been preparing for the KCCA FC game, they’re one of the clubs who have dominated the Uganda cup because they have the same number of cup titles as us, they’re also a decent team with good players and coaches, many think it’s going to be an easy game but it won’t, however, we’ve prepared the boys well, they’re aware we must win our home games but most importantly we need to win the first leg it’s important because it gives us the motivation,” Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa said.
“For us, the target is a draw or a win to gain the advantage,” KCCA head coach Morley Byekwaso told the media.
