Her performance helped Mukono Kings secure a solid total of 182 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in a reduced 15-over match against Namagunga.
Batting at number three, Nansamba’s innings was complemented by contributions from Nakanwagi Aisha (17 off 15) and Kyaterekera Noeline (20 off 17).
However, Namagunga struggled with discipline in the field, conceding a staggering 80 extras—an indicator of their inexperience as they adapt to the competitive scene.
Despite a challenging bowling performance, Captain Kojo Peace showcased resilience, taking two wickets and top-scoring in the chase with 6 runs off 7 balls.
Unfortunately, the new girls found themselves bundled out for just 35 runs, resulting in a heavy defeat by 147 runs.
In their second match, Namagunga faced further difficulties, managing only 47 runs for 9 wickets in 10 overs, with Tumwebaze Mary contributing a mere 10 runs off 8 balls.
St. Cornelius SS Kalagala, on the other hand, excelled in their bowling, with Nalweyiso Winnie and Kwagalakwe Joy each claiming 2 wickets.
St. Cornelius easily chased down the target, winning by 6 wickets.
Matchday one also featured a thrilling encounter in the girls’ category, where Mukono Kings triumphed over St. Cornelius SS Kalagala by 95 runs.
In the boys’ category, defending champions St. Cornelius SS Kalagala continued their strong performance by defeating Mukono Kings by 4 wickets, with Ogenrwot Kenneth being named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance—4 wickets for just 10 runs in 3 overs, along with a quickfire 21 off 9 balls.
Looking ahead, Gayaza High School will host matches featuring St. Cornelius SS, Mukono Kings, and St. Mary’s Namagunga.
The top two teams from these games will advance to the finals, set to take place at Mount St. Henry’s Mukono, where a live stream of the games will be provided.
As Namagunga continues to grow in their cricketing journey, these initial challenges serve as valuable learning experiences for the young team and its one of the things provided by the Deep End Schools Cricket Tournament
