On October 11, 2025, the Deep End Schools’ Cricket Tournament culminated in a day full of thrilling competition, cultural performances, and celebrations of youthful spirit.

The band from St. Henry’s High School students set the tone with vibrant music, energizing the crowd before the finals unfolded on the pitch.

In the boys’ final, debutants St. John’s High School, Kauga, stunned spectators by clinching the title in their very first appearance.

Batting first, Kauga posted a modest but challenging 93 runs in 14.3 overs, anchored by aggressive boundary-hitting from Paul Emetu and Jackson Asiku.

Despite some early wickets lost, their total proved enough against a disciplined St. Cornelius bowling attack.

The chase proved difficult for St. Cornelius as bowlers Mustafah Mutwalibu and Derrick Okecho applied relentless pressure, taking crucial wickets at key moments.

Ultimately, St. Cornelius was bowled out for 70 runs in 15.4 overs, handing Kauga a well-deserved 23-run victory.

The triumph highlighted Kauga’s teamwork and composure under pressure, a testament to their hard work and emerging talent.

Meanwhile, the girls’ final delivered equally gripping drama.

St. Cornelius Secondary School finally broke their silver streak after two missed attempts, edging out hosts Mt. St. Henry’s in a nail-biting finish.

Mt. St. Henry’s posted 78 runs, struggling to break through the tight bowling of Jovia Namutebi and Florence Nawaali.

Chasing 79, St. Cornelius lost wickets early but displayed remarkable grit, holding on to win by just one wicket in 17.2 overs.

This victory was more than just a trophy for the girls—it was a moment of resilience and redemption, symbolizing the spirit of persistence and growth.
