Match result
Soroti City 114 all out in 25 overs
Patidar 74 all out in 33.5 overs
Soroti City won by 40 runs
In the first-ever meeting between Soroti City Cricket Club and Patidar Cricket Club, Soroti made history with a commanding 40-run win in a Division Two Group A clash at Entebbe Cricket Oval — their third straight victory in as many games.
Soroti won the toss and chose to bat but got off to a shaky start.
Juma Sururu was bowled in the second over by a sharply turning off-spinner, who struck again shortly after to trap Emmanuel Twijukye LBW.
The wickets kept falling, with Alban Ayinebyona also dismissed LBW in the fifth over.
Things went from bad to bizarre when Gideon Outeke was given out for obstructing the field — a rare and dramatic dismissal.
Only captain Ronald Ebulu and Derrick Bakunzi showed some resistance, stitching together a 31-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
Ebulu scored 17 while Bakunzi added 24, but the rest of the lineup crumbled quickly, and Soroti were bowled out for just 114 runs in 25 overs.
Patidar started their chase confidently, reaching 21 without loss in the first five overs.
However, disaster struck in the sixth when Shah Yasser Khan ran himself out in a mix-up.
In the very next over, Gideon Outeke bowled Chirag Patel, sparking a collapse.
Soroti then delivered seven consecutive maiden overs between the sixth and twelfth, during which five wickets fell.
The pressure was relentless, and despite a gritty unbeaten 28 from Parakash Shah, Patidar couldn’t recover and were bowled out 40 runs short.
Gideon Outeke once again stole the show with a brilliant all-round performance.
After scoring a useful 12 with the bat, he delivered a match-winning spell of bowling: 10 overs, 5 wickets, 4 maidens, and just 11 runs conceded — an astonishing economy rate of 1.1.
It earned him back-to-back Player of the Match honors and cemented his status as one of the rising stars of the tournament so far.
