Match Summary

Bujjagali Rafters Innings – 66/8 (20 overs)

Sippi Trekkers Innings – 67/6 (18 overs)

Result: Sippi Trekkers won by 4 wickets

In a tournament pulsing with energy, promise, and rising stars, the final match had all the markings of a classic: the unbeaten Bujjagali Rafters, dominant throughout the week, up against the underdog Sippi Trekkers, a team that had quietly built momentum.

When the two sides met for the title, few doubted the Rafters’ claim to the crown.

Yet cricket, in its glorious unpredictability, had other plans.

Under moody grey skies, Bujjagali won the toss and chose to bat—a decision that would haunt them.

Judith Nakasaga was the first to fall, out for a duck, and the innings never recovered.

Immaculate Nakisuyi managed a battling 12, but the Trekkers’ disciplined bowling and sharp fielding left the Rafters stranded at 66 for 8 in 20 overs.

Extras did more than any batter, chipping in with 15 runs.

It was a total well below expectations for a final and gave the Trekkers more than a glimmer of hope.

Their chase began with calm precision.

Leila Nalukenge anchored the innings with a measured 19, and Jimia Abdallah Muhammed’s unbeaten 22 appeared to seal the deal.

At 62 for 1, with just five runs needed, the match looked all but done.

Then came the chaos.

Malisa Ariokot, with ice in her veins, turned the game on its head in a single over of brilliance.

A jaw-dropping maiden five wickets, including a hat-trick, brought Bujjagali roaring back into the contest.

From a comfortable cruise to the finish, the Trekkers suddenly teetered at 66 for 6.

Tension gripped the ground, but Jimia held her nerve to guide the Trekkers home with two overs to spare.

After the match, Richard Okia, Head of High Performance, reflected on the tournament’s impact.

“It’s been a fantastic week of cricket and a milestone that we are proud of at High Performance,” he said.

“We’ve seen senior players step up to win games and mentor the next generation.”

As the dust settled, the fans had witnessed not just a new champion crowned, but a celebration of talent, resilience, and the power of belief.

In the end, it was cricket that truly won.
