Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally; Mangat take an early lead
Ugandan driver Jas Mangat together with his navigator Joseph Kamya took an early lead of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally on Saturday.
The duo posted 51 mins and 22 seconds to take the lead during a wet rally in Kivuvu.
The first stage of the event was cancelled due to the heavy rains that made the first stage impassible.
The Pilipili rally team head into the final leg with a 22 second lead after their closest competitor was Ponsiano Lwakataka.
The top four of event is currently all full of Ugandanz as Duncan Mubiru occupies third while Mike Mukula is fourth.
Karan Patel, who is an ARC Contender failed to finished on the first day due to slippery paths.
Most foreign based drivers also decided to retire on day one, but have registered for rally two on Sunday.
Shell leads the cast of sponsors of this event after a Shs. 250,000,000 contribution.
