The 2025 CFK Beginning-of-the-Year Badminton Tournament, held on Sunday, January 19th at the CFK Badminton Academy Arena, witnessed some incredible performances, but none more impressive than that of young Kitenda Rehan.

The rising star shone brightly in the junior categories, clinching victory in both the U-13 and U-15 divisions, showcasing his exceptional talent and determination.

With over 150 players from various prestigious schools, including St. Henry’s College Kitovu, Aga Khan High School, and Nabisunsa Girls’ School, among others, the tournament was an exciting display of badminton prowess.

However, it was Kitenda Rehan who stole the spotlight with his remarkable achievements.

Rehan triumphed in the U-13 Boys’ Singles (BS) category, securing the gold medal ahead of his competitors; runner up Althaf Abu, Amdjid Malik Juma and Madhav Pujara.

But his success did not stop there as he continued to demonstrate his dominance by clinching another gold in the U-15 Boys’ Singles (BS) category where he beat Althaf Abu again, cementing his reputation as one of the top young talents in the sport.

Speaking after his victories, a humble but excited Kitenda expressed his gratitude: “I am happy for this award and I will maintain the performance.”

“I promise to perform well in upcoming events. I am also thankful to my coaches and teammates as well.” His gratitude to those who supported him highlights his appreciation for the teamwork and coaching that has helped him reach this impressive level.

Kitenda’s triumph in the U-13 and U-15 categories not only marked a personal achievement but also raised expectations for his future performances.

His consistency and skill on the court throughout the tournament were evident in his seamless transitions between matches, showcasing both his physical fitness and mental focus.

The 2025 CFK tournament also featured top players in various categories, including the corporate and senior divisions.

However, Kitenda’s dominance in the junior sections proved to be one of the standout stories of the weekend.

His victories are a testament to his potential and provide a glimpse into what could be a bright future for him in badminton.

As Rehan Kitenda looks ahead to future competitions, the 2025 CFK Beginning-of-the-Year Tournament undoubtedly marks the beginning of what could be a stellar career.
