Over 70 young athletes have taken part in the iCARRe Youth Basketball Training camp that was concluded today at the Makerere University main sports grounds.

This free program has been organized by iCAARe Basketball, a non profit that uses basketball to impact lives of the youth with focus on mental wellness, education and mentorship.

It has been open to all youth between eight to thirteen years who’ve been training into different age groups.

A team of coaches led by National youth team coach Moses Okwera helped these youngsters better their skills.

“I’ve been impressed by the talent here, some kids are really young but understand the basics. We are planning on having fully functional basketball academy and part of the key initiatives here was identifying potential talents that we can take on into our next programs” Said Okwera.

“This will will be very beneficial especially to the less privileged young talents who might not be able to afford the relatively expensive charges, averagely academies charge about shs 35,000 for a day’s training session, but aiCAARe is providing all this at no cost.”

He also added that the next iCARRe Basketball camp will take place in January.
