Pepsi University Football League 2025 Awards: Kayondo, Alele and Wanuume Steal the Spotlight

The 2025 season of the PEPSI University Football League (UFL) concluded with a grand awards ceremony honoring the top performers of the year.

From standout players to tactical masterminds, the event celebrated the excellence that defined one of the most competitive seasons in UFL history.

Kiwa Faustino of Bugema University earned Sports Tutor of the Season for his calm leadership and hospitality, attending every match and ensuring smooth coordination for all visiting teams.

Coach of the Season went to Kisuuze Eric of Uganda Martyrs University, who led his side through an impressive unbeaten run, 11 matches with 9 wins and 2 draws solidifying their dominance in the league.

Kumi University’s Alele Tom shone as Rookie of the Season, showcasing lethal finishing and striking fear into top teams like Ndejje, Victoria, and Makerere.

In goal, Ocen Fred of Ndejje University was nearly unbeatable, registering 7 clean sheets in 8 games to claim the Goalkeeper of the Season honor.

The biggest accolades went to Kayondo Joseph of Uganda Martyrs University, who was named both Defender of the Season and Most Valuable Player (MVP).

A versatile and attacking fullback, Kayondo contributed 5 goals and 2 assists, earning comparisons to Ugandan legend Paul Hasule.

In midfield, Jjonga Nicholas (Uganda Martyrs) was named Midfielder of the Season for his blend of defensive strength and attacking creativity, drawing praise for his ability to control games.

Matege Innocent (St. Lawrence University) took home the Most Assists award with 5 assists and 2 goals, playing a direct role in 7 of his team’s goals.

Top Scorer of the Season was Wanuume Gilbert (Kampala University), who netted 6 goals in 4 games including the season’s only hat trick against Gulu.
