  • KIU 0-0 Gulu University

Kampala International University (KIU) and Gulu University shared spoils at the YES centre

Sports Arena in Nsambya on Tuesday evening.

The hosts kick off in good spirits with Ocheing Livingstone in space to shoot from range just ten (10) minutes into the game but Oboth Ronald managed to clear the ball off the goal line.

After a spell of failure to retain possession, thirty two (32) minutes past the half hour mark – KIU got back on the front foot exerting pressure onto Gulu University almost pushing them to paying for falling asleep again with Gulu Captain Joel Lawech’s interventing to spare their blushes.

Six minutes later, KIU’s Emmanuel Eparu turned Oboth inside and out before he created an angle for a shot only to open up his body too much to send his strike low and wide to keep the score goalless at the break.

Ten minutes after restart, KIU got the first major chance after they built up nicely down the right only for Arafat Doka to deliver to Eparu who lost his footing for later Otim Richard to easily clear the ball.

Fifteen minutes to go, Doka took matters into his own hands with a brilliant driving run from midfield, but chose to shoot rather than tee up Eparu only to gift shot stopper Douglas Komackech.

Komackech with a minute to go, managed to palm away Brian Ntambi’s far post shot for a corner an action that was accompanied by a Gulu University players celebration.

This stalemate managed to help both sides attain valuable points sending Gulu top of Group D with 4 points.

For KIU, they stay bottom of the pile with a point, two short of both Bugema and Kampala University.
