- IUIU 1-0 ISBAT
ISBAT’s wait for a first win in the Pepsi University Football League continues after their 1-0 loss away to Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) in Mbale on Thursday.
IUIU’s winner came courtesy of an own goal from Ngobi Joseph in their group A encounter
The goal went in as early as the 10th minute when Ngobi failed to deal with Emmanuel Shikanga’s cross in the box.
Ten minutes later, the encouraging start from the hosts continued with Emmanuel Shikanga and Mpande Jimmy bringing in the constant attacks
With one at the half hour mark almost causing another defensive mix up between Ngobi and his goal keeper Eric Lubandi fortunately Lubandi making a quick reaction to save ISBAT.
However with 10 minutes left on the opening half, ISBAT got a chance that saw Ukasha Ssenono try his luck from distance but the IUIU keeper Sadat Musaasizi made a comfortable save ending the opening half 1-0 in favour of the hosts.
After the restart, ISBAT Mumali Faisal attempting on goal with the Lubandi and his defence getting in the way to deny him a chance to double the lead for the hosts.
The IUIU attacks continued to flow looking dangerous as we passed the hour mark especially Shikanga and Kawooya who are sending dangerous balls into the visitors box.
On the other end, a goalmouth scramble taking place in the hosts box with 15 minutes to go IUIU’s Kakeeto Powell diverting it into a very dangerous area but they managed to get it away.
At the climax of it all, IUIU had to continue to defend for a period in the rain come down as Kizito John Paul forced a save out of Musasizi but it wasn’t to be for Haumba Edwin’s charges as they lost the game.
This is the third loss for ISBAT and second win for the hosts IUIU to go top of Group A with 7 points
