Bugema University rallied from a goal down to edge the Giraffes of Kampala International University (KIU) 1-2 in Group D clash at Nsambya YES Center on Monday evening.
Zziwa Shafik opened the scoring for KIU in the opening half before Sawa Eric and Bwabye Kenneth leveling and securing the win respectively.
At the stroke of halftime, hosts found a breakthrough as Zziwa who met Ntambi’s through ball to strike home to finish the first half in a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Sawa’s thunderbolt at the fringes of the 18 yard handed the visitors an equalizer striking at the far post leaving hosts shot stopper Eddy Amoni helpless 19 minutes to end the half.
Nine minutes later, substitute Bwabye came off the bench to double the lead for the visitors as he pressed Suleiman Ssentongo’s cross.
This victory takes Bugema top of the Group with two wins and 6 points, two more than Gulu University who lay second.
On Tuesday, 22nd October 2024 (tomorrow), Arua’s Muni will host University of Kisubi in Group E clash.
