Ugandan tactician Paul Nkata has been named the new interim Gor Mahia head coach.
This is following the sacking of Englishman Mark Harrison on Saturday morning due to the poor team performance.
Nkata won the Kenyan Premier League with Tusker FC in 2016 and he has also handled a number of Kenyan clubs among them Muhoroni Youth, Nairobi City Stars, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Bandari.
His reign at Homeboyz ended prematurely after he was allegedly accused of match-fixing, prompting the coach to resign and return to his native Uganda.
In Uganda, he has coached at Kira Young, SC Villa, URA, Mbarara City and Masaka FC.
At the K’Ogalo, he will be assisted by Peter Odhiambo, formerly working as the head coach for the Gor Mahia’s youth team.
Nkata finds Gor Mahia sitting in 5th position on the 18-team table with 27 points from 16 matches, six fewer than table-toppers Homeboyz.
