Park FC’s journey in the Futsal Super League Frenzy Edition came to a crashing end after suffering a resounding 5-1 defeat to Mengo City in a heated quarterfinal clash at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena on February 21st.

Mengo City, led by their junior team, Mengo Sports Academy, put on a dominant display, overturning an early deficit to book their spot in the semifinals.

However, their victory was marred by a serious knee injury to Abdulkarim Tebela, who went down in stoppage time while scoring the team’s fifth goal.

Park FC had a promising start, taking the lead in the 14th minute through Owen Othieno.

However, their advantage was short-lived as Mengo City responded almost immediately with a thunderous equalizer from Akram Ssali.

From then on, it was all Mengo City. Their star player, Ian Tugume, turned the game around just before halftime, putting his team ahead.

They extended their lead midway through the second half, making it 3-1 and leaving Park FC struggling to keep up.

Mengo Sports Academy continued to press their advantage, forcing Park FC into defensive errors.

Tebela, who had been a standout performer, sealed the victory with a late brace before suffering an injury that halted the game for nearly an hour.

With the win, Mengo City advanced to the semifinals, joining Kisenyi FC, QC Mbarara, and Crown Lubiri, who had already secured their places earlier in the evening.

Kisenyi FC edged out Edgar’s Youths in a thrilling 4-3 victory, thanks to a late goal from Mohammed Abdi, who completed his brace.

Waleed Bashir also notched his third brace in as many games, while Edgar’s Youths stayed competitive with two goals from Eze Kombi.

QC Mbarara produced one of the most remarkable performances of the tournament, defeating Kabowa Dream Team 4-1 despite playing the entire match with only five players.

Kassaga Sadam and Tamale Franklin each scored twice to complete an incredible underdog story.

Meanwhile, Crown Lubiri battled Kabuusu Clouds in a dramatic 3-3 draw before edging them 7-6 in a penalty shootout.

The decisive moment came when Clouds’ goalkeeper Mwanje Shagaf failed to convert his penalty, handing Abdijabar Jama the chance to secure victory for Crown Lubiri.

With the Frenzy Edition quarterfinals concluded, attention now shifts to the competition semifinals on April 4, and there after Uganda Cup semifinals, scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2025, at Old Kampala Futsal Arena, kicking off at 5 PM.

Mengo City’s impressive form puts them among the favorites, but they will be sweating over the fitness of Abdulkarim Tebela ahead of their crucial semifinal clash.

Meanwhile, Park FC will have to regroup after their disappointing exit and look ahead to main Futsal League .
