The 2025 CAVB Zone V Volleyball Club Championship will be hosted in Kampala from Wednesday, February 26 to Tuesday, March 4, 2025, marking an exciting nine-day event.
The championship will take place at the Lugogo Indoor Sports Arena and Old Kampala.
During a press conference at the Uganda Olympics Committee office, Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) President Sadik Nasiwu expressed enthusiasm about hosting the prestigious tournament.
He highlighted that Uganda secured the event by presenting the best offer in the zone, and it was initially postponed to avoid a scheduling conflict with Badminton event.

“This championship offers local clubs a unique opportunity to compete against the best teams in the region.”
It’s also significant as the first major volleyball championship held in Kampala after Nasiwu took over as UVF president in November 2024.
Nasiwu emphasized that the goal for the event is to be cost-friendly for regional clubs while providing maximum exposure for athletes.
He also hopes the tournament will boost Uganda’s tourism industry and give players professional exposure.
“Plans are in place to expand into other categories, such as age groups, National teams and beach volleyball, while focusing on development in tactical aspects, coaching, and refereeing.”
Joseph Odong, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, confirmed that 20 teams from the 12 Zone V countries have already confirmed their participation, including teams from Uganda.

“The event is supported by various partners, including the Government of Uganda, NCS, UOC, JIBU water, Old Kampala Arena, and UVF.
The Uganda Police Force will provide security, and tickets will be available for a small fee of 10,000 UGX.”
The event will feature non-stop, double-gender volleyball matches from 10 am until midnight, with live streaming for global audiences.
Each team will be accompanied by international referees, with a total of nine referees officiating the tournament.
Scorers and line judges will be provided by our national referees.
As part of the legacy program for regional events, this time we aim to involve national referees as scorers and court managers, while officiating will be handled by international referees only.
