Only a shadow of themselves, What happened to Kitara FC?

Kitara FC’s struggles continued on Friday as they suffered their fourth defeat of the season, losing 1-3 to BUL FC at home.

This latest setback marks a stark contrast to their impressive start to last season, where they won all five of their opening games, including victories against eventual champions SC Villa and KCCA FC.

After narrowly missing out on the League title and winning the Uganda Cup in only their second Top-flight season, Kitara FC’s management had mentioned stabilization as their next task.

“Next season, we shall let go of some senior players.” Club President Deo Kasozi said

“This will cut our salary expenditure and bring in younger players some of which might be new to most of you” he added

“With that lack of experience, we know that our results might also not be as good but we believe that over time we shall be able to build a team that can compete.” Kasozi on their way forward while speaking on X Space hosted by journalist Clive Kyazze.

Also confirming that they have strong belief in Ssenyondo to stir this project forward;

Going on to add that; “He has a clear plan for the club, it’s for this vision that we chose him among the many including more experienced options.” Kasozi concluded

However it all looks like the opposite in some phase of the statements with Kitara losing some players like Paul Mucureezi and Bryan Aheebwa but managing to keep the big guns for the continent.

In addition to that more Young big name players like Marvin Nyanzi, Umar Lutalo, Moses Sseruyidde, Rogers Mugisha, Titus Ssematimba and experienced Ivan Sserubiri, Fred Amaku plus Patrick Kaddu were all brought in to boast the squad with their respective attributes.

Marvin Nyanzi one of the new additions.

And the club looks stable even after getting back home to the Royal Park Stadium in Butema, Hoima.

With all the talk about the manager, this seems to have been swept under the carpet.

Winning is addictive, and the management, along with fans might have hit heights of dopamine, by the start of this current season, the talk was title hopes and not stability like they cited last season.

Kitara had one of the most lethal forward lines last season, their 46 goals only came second to KCCA who scored eight more. But their backline was overly generous, giving away 33 goals, only 6 clubs conceded more.

A clear signal that they needed to tighten defence, with centre back Ronald Oti coming in from BUL being one of the 11 new sighnings made by the Kitara, most of which were forwards.

However, a forward line that still had the League’s second best top scorer Denis Omedi, Kabon Living, Jude Semugabi and at times George Ssenkaaba together contributed 30 league goals looked sufficient enough to carry on on the next season.

But obviously no team would say no to the addition of last season’s firing striker Fred Amaku who joined from Maroons and last minute signing of Patrick Kaddu, the former Maroons, KCCA and Cranes striker.

After Luring, Nyanzi, Ssematimba, Mugisha and Lutalo all under 21 forward thinking players with League experience many excepted them to hit the ground running but at this point look like they will have to fight for place in the team without assurance to start which always ruins confidence compared to where they came from.

But still the question that remains on table is What’s expected of them despite the Club’s clear Title ambition? Growth or Impact?

Various reports stated that some of the players were bought by the Club and others on the Head Coach Ssenyondo’s call but a lot of these have been dispatched.

Ssenyondo coming out to clear the air citing that all players were bought on his call and added that his responsible for all on the pitch.

In their next game, Kitara head to Nakivubo Stadium to face URA FC On Friday 1st November and currently lay 14th on table, only a point ahead of bottom placed side Bright Stars.

After failing to win a game since defeating a newly promoted Lugazi FC on their season opener.

What followed were losses to NEC, KCCA and Police FC, before needing a last minute equalizer from Patrick Kaddu to pick a point against Mbarara City.

Ssenyondo’s seems to be uncertain on his future at the club, and there have been a couple of coaches linked to his job the lasted being Wasswa Bbosa.

Amidst these poor results, the Royals have stayed loyal to their club and fans still fill their home stadium in Butema, Hoima where they’re still yet to pick a win.
