Uganda long distance athletes Oscar Chelimo, Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo have all eased into the men’s 5000m finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Chelimo finished fourth in the first heat in 13:39:07, barely two seconds behind race winner Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli ( 13:39:07)
Meanwhile in the second heat, world champion Cheptegei came fifth while Kiplimo came fourth in fast paced heat two and both advanced to the finals.
Kiplimo run for 13:30.40 while Cheptegei posted 13:30.61 in a race won by Spain’s Mohamed Katir.
The final is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
