Olila High School won by 5 wickets

Olila High School were crowned 2025 Girls Schools Cricket Week Champions after defeating Light Secondary School by five wickets in the final, held at Gulu High School Ground.

The victory marked Olila’s fourth national crown and completed a flawless 9-0 campaign.

In the final, Light SS won the toss and chose to bat, but their innings quickly fell apart.

Captain Misheal Ariago (22* off 47) was the lone fighter as wickets tumbled around her.

Immaculate Nandera delivered a devastating spell, taking 7 wickets for just 7 runs in 3.4 overs.

Her match-winning performance earned her both Player of the Match honors and the match ball.

Light SS were bowled out for a modest 45 runs in 19.4 overs, with six of their batters failing to score.

Despite the low target, Olila faced early pressure in the chase.

Star pacer Sarah Tino (3.5-2-7-3) struck in the first over, removing key batters including captain Asumin Akurut and all-rounder Lona Anyait.

But Victoria Pearls international Malisa Ariokot remained composed, guiding her side with an unbeaten 27 off 33 balls.

Olila reached 48/5 in 13.5 overs to secure a hard-fought win and lift the trophy.

Earlier in the semifinals, Olila cruised past Masaka SS with a 10-wicket win at St Joseph’s College Layibi Ground. Masaka were restricted to 55/7 in 20 overs, thanks to tight spells from Akurut (2/5) and Devine Nyamer (1/9), along with three run-outs.

Olila’s openers made light work of the chase, with Akurut (31*) and Joan Ilora (20*) reaching the target in just 10 overs.

Light SS had booked their spot in the final after a nail-biting semifinal against Sacred Heart SS.

Batting first, they managed just 47/9 in 20 overs, relying on Judith Iroo (11*) and 15 extras.

Petra Akidi (4/9) and Ritah Amono (3/6) threatened to derail the chase, but Sacred Heart fell just short, bowled out for 45 in 17.3 overs.

Tino, Iroo, and Ariago kept their nerve in the final overs to seal a two-run win.
