Netball: Byekwaso withdraws from Presidential Election race

Following a series of instabilities at the top leadership of the Uganda Netball Federation that have gone on for over a year.

The Normalisation Committee that was put in place to bring the situation back to normalcy announcement that there would be an Election on 26th October for the a new president of the Netball governing body.

Brig. Flavia Byekwaso who was the acting president during the numerous suspension periods of then President, Sarah Babirye Kityo has announced today in a press conference that she won’t be standing for this post in the coming elections.

She pointed out key issues that led to her decisions some of which include requirements for one to stand like being in a Netball leadership position for the last or more years which she doesn’t make.

However Byekwaso in her conclusion hinted on a possible return to the race in case of a resolvmemt to some of the issues which according to her are intentionally locking out certain candidates.

Byekwaso has currently been in a race with Ucanda Jocelyn, the former She Cranes manager and current NIC manager.

Before it all, Ucanda was already citing  confidence of winning the election adding that she was just waiting to swear in as new Netball President.

” I have been in this game for the period of 15 years and i love this game, am just waiting to swear in” Ucanda stated in an interview with Ms news

“I was once a she Cranes manager and same time NIC manager and i managed to handle that issue, believe me i will handle that issue because i know how to handle them” she added

“On 26th October i urge the voters to elect wisely to avoid the mistakes made before.” she concluded
