  • Nam Blazers 99-63 Victoria University

Namuwongo Blazers sent a strong statement in the National Basketball League with a commanding 99-63 victory over newly promoted Victoria University at Abja Parks on Wednesday night.

The win marked their second consecutive triumph of the season, following their thrilling 81-80 victory over defending champions City Oilers last week.

From the opening tip-off, the Blazers set the pace, overwhelming their inexperienced opponents with relentless attacks and defensive solidity.

By halftime, they had already built a 16 point lead (45-29), setting the stage for an even more dominant second half.

As the game progressed, the Blazers showed no mercy, running riot and nearly hitting the century mark, ultimately sealing a 99-63 scoreline that showcased their superiority over the league newcomers.

Innocent Ochera  led the charge with an impressive 29 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists Peter Obleng contributed 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal, proving to be a key asset.

Michael Makiadi put up an all around performance with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks while Tonny Drileba added 9 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 block, facilitating the team’s fluid play for Blazers.

The result was a reality check for  Victoria University, who had started their top-flight campaign with a 51-48 victory over Kampala Rockets but struggled to cope with the intensity and experience of the Blazers.
