The Gazelles head coach Nicholas Natuhereza has named a 13-player squad that will commence preparations for the upcoming 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championships.

The tournament is scheduled to run from 26th July to 3rd August in Abidjan Ivory Coast.

The squad will begin non residential training at African Bible Institute in Lubowa on Wednesday 2nd July with the head Nicolas Natuhereza eager to assemble a stronger squad that will represent Uganda in time for the tournament.

“We are focused on trying to get the roster together, fill some pieces, some gaps that were left by some players that are not available like Lydia Babirye, Maximine and Bushira.” Said Nick Natuhereza.

“ We have been trying to update the team from the one we had in the qualifiers and have a better team from the one we had in the last Afrobasket. Practice will help us get the players on the same page and in shape.” Hw added.

The Gazelles are in group C alongside Senegal and Guinea and will be under the guidance of a strong technical team led by Head coach Nicolas Natuhereza.
