Day Three of the Mukono T20 Cup delivered a thrilling blend of individual brilliance and team discipline, with Mukono Development bouncing back to winning ways and Lugazi Trekkers asserting their dominance at the top of the table.
The morning fixture saw Mukono Development take on Njeru Warriors in a contest defined by resilience.
Losing early wickets, including Charles Kimpasa for 7, Ogenrwot for a duck, and Anas Baig for 11, the hosts appeared in trouble.
But Fahad Mutagana rose to the occasion, crafting a sparkling 59 off 42 balls, including four fours and as many sixes, rescuing the innings.
Extras added crucial runs, allowing Mukono to post a modest 106/6.
Chasing 107, Njeru Warriors showed intent but were consistently pegged back by Mukono’s bowlers.
Key breakthroughs from Ogenrwot and Anas Baig reduced the visitors to 26/4 by the sixth over.
Despite efforts from Nuwagaba (15) and Mitali (16), the Warriors finished on 87/7, handing Mukono Development a 19-run victory.
Mutagana’s all-round performance, including a wicket for just 19 runs in four overs, earned him Player of the Match.
In the afternoon, Lugazi Trekkers faced Buikwe Gladiators in a dominant display.
Batting first, the Trekkers overcame early setbacks through a crucial partnership between Christopher Kidega and Joseph Baguma , posting 118 in 17.1 overs.
Extras and aggressive strokeplay made the total challenging.
The Gladiators’ chase faltered under relentless Trekkers’ bowling.
Kidega led the charge, supported by Hamid Munigwa, Baguma, and Akena, triggering run-outs and quick wickets.
Despite brief resistance from Siraje Nsubuga and Musa Majid, Buikwe were bowled out for 75, giving Lugazi a 43-run win and cementing their position atop the points table.
Day Three underscored the tournament’s competitive edge, with heroic innings, disciplined bowling, and tactical brilliance.
