Uganda A 130 for eight  (Ssesazi  32,  Lutaaya 19) beat  Rwanda A  119 for six (Rukundo 32,  Tuyizere  22, Majid  3-13-4) by 11 runs

Former U-19 opening bowler Musa Majid Ramathan delivered a standout performance as Uganda A edged Rwanda A by 11 runs to close round one of the RCA Emerging Invitational Tournament as the only unbeaten side.

Majid’s brilliant figures of 3/14 in four overs at an impressive economy of 3.5 were instrumental in defending a modest total of 130.

Uganda A won the toss and opted to bat first, but their batting lineup struggled to build momentum.

Partnerships faltered as wickets tumbled, and at one point, reaching even 100 seemed an uphill task.

However, Rwanda’s fielding lapses offered Uganda A a lifeline, allowing them to scrape together a competitive total.

Simon Ssesazi, working to regain his form, top-scored with a cautious 32 off 27 balls, while Sirage Nsubuga’s explosive cameo of 18 off just seven deliveries proved crucial in the latter stages.

Head coach Davis Turinawe, aiming to give all 14 players tournament exposure, made three changes to the lineup, bringing in Steven Wabwose, Christopher Kidega, and the dangerous Majid for Calvin Watuwa, Anas Baig and Jonathan Ssebanja.

In response, Rwanda A started with promise but failed to build sustainable partnerships.

Despite notable contributions from Rukundo Jean Pierre (32 off 28), Tuyizere John Bosco (22 off 32), and Kevin Kabare Irakoze (21 off 16), they fell short by 11 runs.

Majid’s timely breakthroughs ensured Uganda A maintained control, dismantling any hopes of a successful chase.

After the match, Uganda A captain Roger Mukasa expressed pride in his team’s unbeaten run and commended Majid’s stellar performance, which earned him the Player of the Match award.
