Mukono Cricket Community visited the Lugogo-based Cricket Academy Persist Until Something Happens (PUSH) for a series of friendly matches between boys’ and girls’ teams from both cricket hubs.

Mukono dominated the girls’ category, while PUSH emerged victorious in the boys’ category.

PUSH, founded by Jackson Ogwang, the Assistant National Team Head Coach for the Cricket Cranes, was established as a way to give back to the Gheto communities focusing mostly on Naguru and the Jinja Road barracks.

Ogwang’s goal is to provide hope through the game of cricket and help keep the sport alive in areas where future stars are born.

In contrast, the Mukono Cricket Community was founded with the aim of growing cricket in the Mukono region, targeting areas like Mukono District, Kayunga, and Lugazi.

This visit to Lugogo marks the beginning of what is expected to be an ongoing exchange, with plans for similar programs during every holiday.

There are also hopes that PUSH will visit the Mukono Cricket Community in the near future.

After the match, Mr. Kintu Simon, Chairman of the Mukono Cricket Community, praised PUSH for their outstanding work and thanked them for honoring the friendly games.

He also acknowledged the significant role PUSH has played in nurturing talent, noting that two of Mukono’s coaches—Edwin Nuwagaba and Fahad Mutagana—are both products of PUSH.

“We will also be providing bursaries for some of the vulnerable kids through our partner schools in Mukono,”

Simon added.
