MTN Mobile Money Uganda (MoMo) has officially reaffirmed its commitment to rugby ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup 2025. At a press briefing today at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, MoMo’s General Manager of Corporate and Legal Services, Dennis Kakonge, said the company was “going all-in” as the tournament’s official payment partner.

Representatives from URU, led by General Secretary Peter Odong, signed a three-year sponsorship deal, securing MTN MoMo as URU’s official partner and exclusive ticketing platform for the July tournament.

“The MoMo ticketing platform simplifies access to experiences that matter, and rugby fans across the country can now conveniently purchase their Rugby Africa Cup 2025 tickets securely and affordably wherever they are,” Kakonge explained .

Fans can purchase tickets via the MoMo app or USSD code 16520#. Pricing tiers include early bird at UGX 20,000, ordinary at UGX 30,000, VIP at UGX 60,000, and VVIP at UGX 150,000 per matchday, with a limited flash sale featuring UGX 10,000 ordinary tickets.

URU President Godwin Kayangwe emphasized that greater ticket accessibility aligns with their goal to deepen fan engagement and develop grassroots rugby. “We want every Ugandan to be part of this national celebration,” he stated.

Spectators at Namboole can expect a fully cashless experience, branded merchandise, live giveaways, and fan-park discounts—powered by MoMo.

The eight-team tournament runs from July 7–21, 2025, serving as the qualifier for the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup in Australia. Uganda will kick off against Kenya in a key quarterfinal clash.
