With only a few days to the start of the second edition of the Maracanã 5 Sunday League at Maracana Sports World in Buwate, the event is heating up with sponsorship from a number of well wishers.
The event, which will begin on February 27, 2022, is projected to attract more teams than the inaugural edition, which had nine.
Kabali United won the first edition of the 5 Sunday tournament, which took place between September 19 and October 17, 2021.
The Maracanã 5 Sunday League’s second season is planned to last five weekends, with teams from all walks of life competing every Sunday.
The grand finale will take place on March 27, 2022. The winners will earn a cash award of Sh2 million, while the runners-up will receive a cash prize of Sh1 million.
ZEE NODE a software Developing hub, Kaisha Dog Trainers, BLOODLINK, CK, The Touchline Sports and No Cut Kampala both Media companies, and Langido Design and Screen Printing have joined the organizing team as sponsors for the second edition.
In an interview with the Touchline Sports, Iraguha Herbert, the Manager of Maracanã Sports World, could not hide his delight for the upcoming event.
“I am really enthusiastic for the upcoming season because I have a number of new teams registering and others indicating interest in participating in the second edition of the Maracanã 5 Sunday league,” he said.

Registration of new teams is still ongoing, with the deadline being 24th February, 2022. Registration is only Shs. 500,000 for any team with 8Aside members
